Chapter 8 – Meeting Vincent

“I thought I was going to die so I just imagined, hoped for something that would kill her quickly and let me live. A small bottle popped into my hands, I popped the lid off, whatever it was, it burned me. But I got the urge to stick it down her throat, don’t ask me how I knew to do that, but I did,” Beth said in reply.

“Wow, that’s amazing, it was quite the battle. But you were right, everything can die. We made a lot of money off of that too, there was all kinds of people there, of course, only people who knew about the war,” Chelsea said.

Beth started to doze off, “Glad you did.”

Chelsea grinned, “So am I. I guess I know whose side your on.”

Beth shook her head, “No you don’t. I’m on my own side.”

As Beth’s eyes dropped she heard Chelsea laughing. This time when Beth awoke she looked over to the side and saw a guy. He had dark brown hair that curled and hung down to his cheeks. He had hazel brown eyes and was very tanned. Beth looked at him and sat up slowly, “Who…who are you?”

The guy smiled, “My name is Vincent.”

Beth winced and held her stomach, “Why are you here?”

“Be careful, don’t sit up to fast….You could hurt yourself,” he said.

Beth sighed, “You didn’t answer my question. And don’t worry about me, I am fine.”

Vincent sighed, “I go to the same school as you…I just haven’t talked to you, I have been watching you though. After that fight…I couldn’t retain myself, I had to come and see you.”

Beth was completely confused, “Why?”

“You’re cute and strong. What you did to her…was just…amazing,” he said.

Beth laughed then coughed, “Ow. So, you’re like a fan of mine?”

He nodded, “Yea…you could say that.”

“Why? Don’t you know anything about me?”

He nodded, “Everything.”

Beth’s eyes widened, “How so?”

“I am…Chelsea’s cousin….She talks to me a lot…and tells me everything.” Vincent replied.

Beth sighed, “I didn’t know that.”

Vincent stood up and walked over to Beth, “Can I…can I see your bandages?”

Beth pulled her shirt up, over the bandages and looked at her stomach, “Sure.”

He looked at the bandages over her stomach, “That looks so…painful.”

Beth nodded, “It is.”

Vincent sighed, “Someone like you…shouldn’t be in so much pain.”

Beth smiled, “You seem pretty nice.”

Vincent smiled, “Thanks.”

“Okay, please tell me that they won’t allow Jill in to see me? In this weakened state…well…she could definitely take me out,” Beth said with a frown.

Vincent shrugged, “I have no idea…but I can ask the doctors…about Jill and I can try to…get them to not allow her to…come inside.”

Beth smiled, “Thanks. When are they going to let me out?”

“Sometime next week,” Vincent said.

Beth closed her eyes, “Thanks.”

Vincent pulled her shirt back down over her stomach and sat back down, “Your welcome.”

Beth fell asleep. The next week went by quickly. Vincent was in her room every other day, and when he wasn’t in there, Chelsea was. Once the week was over, Beth went back to the Terval’s home. Chelsea was at her side and helped her in. Beth looked at Chelsea, “What did you tell them?”

“Tell who what?” Chelsea asked.

“What did you tell the Tervals? I haven’t seen them at all since I was…since the fight,” Beth said as she sat herself down on the couch.

“That you were at my house, and according to the school, you’ve been there all week,” Chelsea smiled as she said this.

Beth’s eyes widened, “But how? Did you hack into the school’s main frame?”

Chelsea laughed, “I told you that you have people watching your back. There are people who know about the war but aren’t involved. The Tervals don’t know about the war but they were instructed to keep away from you. They are being paid to ignore you.”

Beth sighed, “Wow. So there are millions of people, watching and waiting to see whose side I’ll be on?”

Chelsea nodded and sat down beside her, “Yep. You are one important girl. Like I have been saying, you must choose a side.”

Beth sighed, “I’m not on anybody’s side.”

Chelsea looked at Beth and poked her stomach, “You have to choose a side.”

Beth winced and cried out in pain, “Don’t touch my stomach.”

Chelsea rolled her eyes, “Cry baby.”

Beth inhaled deeply and out, “I am not. You’re not the one who had surgery done to most of their inner organs.”

“You’re part demon, that shouldn’t have hurt that badly,” Chelsea said. A knock on the door and Chelsea went to the door and opened it, “Hi Vincent.”

Beth groaned, “Chelsea that doesn’t matter. That just pretty much fuels my anger. And it gives me extra strength, it doesn’t make me invincible.”

Vincent slowly walked inside, “Hi Beth.”

Chelsea rolled her eyes, “Vincent, tell Beth that she has to choose a side and soon.”

Vincent sat down beside Beth and nodded slowly, “I’m sorry Beth…but you need to choose one soon….And it can’t just be what you think is right…the decision must be made from your heart.”

Beth sighed, “I don’t want to choose a side though. And you know that Vincent.”

Chelsea rolled her eyes, “Vincent don’t get soft of her, you need to tell her, to make her choose a side.”

Vincent looked down, “Beth…you need to…it’s as simple as that…you can’t…you can’t remain neutral forever.”

Beth stood up, “I can and I will.”

Chelsea pushed Beth down onto the couch, “You need to choose and you will soon. You still need to take care of Jill.”

“You want to put me in another fight?” Beth asked, becoming amazed.

Vincent nodded, “She insist that you…and Jill fight…Jill wants you dead anyways.”

Chelsea looked at the door, “Vincent, you need to leave.”

Beth frowned, “Why?”

Vincent nodded, “Yea, why?”

Chelsea glared at Vincent, “Cousin, it’s time you leave. Beth has important friends coming over.”

Vincent stood up and looked at Beth sadly, “I’m sorry Beth…I’ll be back…over when I can.”

Beth sighed, “Bye Vincent and thanks again for staying with me while I was in the hospital.”

Vincent left, “Anytime.”

Beth glared at Chelsea, “Okay, why did you make him leave so fast?”

Chelsea laughed, “You still haven’t figured it out yet?”

“Figured what out yet?” Beth asked as she looked at Chelsea.

“Why hasn’t Nathaniel or Daniel or Gary came to see you? Think about what I told you a while ago,” Chelsea grinned as she looked out of the door way.

“Nathaniel hates me because I killed Angel and Gary hates me because I killed Joanne and Daniel just doesn’t know what to think about me,” Beth replied as she looked away.

“Wrong. It’s because of Vincent,” Chelsea replied.

“Vincent? Why him? He’s just a why guy who is really sweet and nice and a good listener,” Beth said with a smile.

Chelsea laughed, “Satan really has fooled you.”

“Yea right, Satan is still wherever he lives,” Beth said.

Chelsea shook her head, “I told you that Satan can go into human form. He’s trying to get close to you and make you choose his side. He’s manipulating you. He knows that I’m going to tell you at one point.”
“So why are you telling me this now?” Beth asked.

“Because I just wanted to see what you’d do,” Chelsea said, “Plus I bet that your sad because Nathaniel hasn’t came to see you yet.”

Beth looked away, “I’m not sad. I don’t need him at all.”

Chelsea laughed, “You’re funny Beth.”

Beth frowned, “Whatever Chelsea.”

Chelsea smiled, “Well I managed to convince Nathaniel to come over here so you can’t hate me too much and too badly.”

Beth’s eyes widened as she looked at Chelsea, “How and why did you do that?”

“I thought you deserved a break plus there is bound to be drama between you and him,” Chelsea said as she waved someone in, “Come on in Nathaniel, Gary and Daniel.”

The boys walked in slowly. Daniel looked at Beth and said, “How are you doing?”

Beth looked at Nathaniel who looked away from her, “As good as can be expected. Angel was strong. I thought I was a goner.”

Gary stood in the door way and Daniel nodded, “We all thought you were going to die.”

Gary frowned, “You cheated.”

Beth ignored Gary’s comment and kept looking at Nathaniel, “Chelsea told me that Vincent is Satan in his human form, is that why you guys didn’t visit?”

Nathaniel nodded and Daniel said, “It was quite the fight. None of us quite know what to do but everyone is waiting for you to choose which side your on. Of course pretty much everyone thinks that you are going on Satan’s side. But Nathaniel and I are still hoping that you choose God’s side and give him the upper hand. He wants to let us humans be free. He could take away your demon and your pain. He could give you a new life, a better life.”

Beth looked away, “Taking my demon away would be taking part of me away. And giving me a new life wouldn’t do anything good. I just want to not be part of this war. I don’t want everybody eyeing me and expecting me to choose a side. I don’t want anything like that. Why can’t I just disappear and not be part of this war. Why was I chosen?”

Nathaniel looked at Beth angrily, “Because you were supposed to be a pure soul. If Satan hadn’t put that damned demon in you then you wouldn’t be put through this mess. You should just kick that demon out of you so you can choose the right side, so you can be pure and good again.”

Beth glared at Nathaniel, “Do you got a problem with me or something?”

Nathaniel nodded, “Yes I do. You might as well as go to their side. You stopped yourself from killing me but for how long. You have killed an angel, Joanne and David and all in the process of a few days. I loved you but not anymore. All you’ve done is cause me pain.”

Beth looked away, “I guess I’ll choose now then. You obliviously see no point for me. I guess I should just go evil and end all of this stress.”

Everyone’s eyes widened, “What? But, I didn’t mean that I wanted you to choose his side,” Nathaniel said.

Beth looked at Chelsea, “How do I choose Satan? How do I get this done and over with?”

Gary looked at Beth then at Chelsea, “How would she know?”

“Just kiss Vincent and toda,” Chelsea said with a grin.

Beth looked away, “You were right Chelsea. Nathaniel got me to choose him and you wanted me to choose him all along so your right.”

All eyes turned to Chelsea as she frowned, “Why did you have to tell them that?”

“Well you had tricked them as did Joanne, since I’m going on Satan’s side, I might as well as ruin you. All I need to do is kill Jill so that I won’t have any problems when I rule earth as the queen,” Beth said as she sighed.

Nathaniel looked at Beth, “I didn’t say that to make you go to him. I want you to choose freely.”

Beth looked away, “Well you made me go to him, you gave up on me.”

Gary and Daniel looked at Chelsea, “Please say that she is lieing.”

Beth laughed, “Can’t do that boys. Beth never hurt me, never did anything like that to me. I went in that room freely and then Jill turned me into this. Jill is very strong, Joanne’s job was to make Beth choose Satan but she failed unlike me.”

Gary tackled Chelsea, “How dare you lie to us!!!”

Daniel sighed, “This all so weird.”

Nathaniel sighed and stare at the floor, “This sucks.”

Beth stood up, “You guys drove me to it. Chelsea, where can I find Satan?”

Chelsea pushed Gary off of her, “Sure. My house, after all we are ‘cousins’ as you know.”

Gary tackled Chelsea down again, “You betrayed God and all of us.”

Daniel stood up and looked up, “I tried in my human form, it completely failed. She just wasn’t…didn’t want to be on my side.”

Everyone froze and looked at Daniel, “Huh?” Chelsea asked.

Daniel’s skin began to glow, “I went as a human to search for her, for Bethany Mc Roa. I refused to sway her to anyone’s side. Yes I knew about you Chelsea, I just hoped that you would quit while you were ahead.”

Chelsea pushed Gary off of her and ran out of the house. Beth just looked at Daniel, “So that’s why you were so calm but always believed in me?”

Nathaniel stared at Daniel and swallowed hard, “I’m sorry God. I didn’t mean to…I just…I’m sorry.”

Gary ran after Chelsea. Daniel nodded, “There is good in your heart and you were destined to join the war in the end. Satan just tainted your soul and ruined it. You were in a bad position and he knew it so he used it to his advantage.”

Beth looked away and stood up, “Just because you turned out to be god doesn’t mean that I’ll choose you. You left me when I needed you most. Satan hasn‘t. He has been there for me since the beginning.”

Nathaniel glared at Beth, “Don’t talk to God like that!!”

Daniel looked at Nathaniel, “It’s okay Nathaniel. Let her be. She just doesn’t fully understand. Maybe she was the wrong one to put my faith, and everyone’s fate into her hands.”

Beth nodded and swallowed hard, “Yes, I was the wrong one. You put me in the worst situation, you practically gave me to Satan.

Nathaniel sighed, “But God…she has no right to talk to you like that.”

Daniel sighed, “It’s fine Nathaniel. You have been a great warrior and I am proud to have fought at your side.”

Beth glared at him, “You did it to me. If you wanted me bad enough you would have interfered. You would have done something for me, to me, you would have protected me from him. It’s all your fault.”

Daniel sighed, “I didn’t want to force you to do anything. I wanted your choice to be pure.”

Beth’s eyes went over black, “You are a fake God. You never cared,” she then looked toward the door and screamed at the top of her lungs, “VINCENT!!!!”

Nathaniel glared at Beth, “God does care. He didn’t want to force you to do anything. He wanted your choice to be a pure one.”

Vincent appeared at the door, “Yes my dear?”

Daniel stared at Vincent, “Hello, Satan.”

Vincent smiled and walked up to Beth, “I guess you know about me already and about Daniel?”

Nathaniel glared at Beth, “I thought you were above this.”

Beth’s eyes clouded over in pain as she looked at Nathaniel and said softly, “You drove me to this.”

Daniel nodded, “Yes, she does. Thanks to Chelsea.”

Vincent smiled, “Good ol’ Jill. She did good.”

Beth looked at Vincent, “How come you chose me? How come you won’t take Jill as your…whatever it is that I will be if I do officially choose you.”

Vincent smiled, “Isn’t it oblivious? Not only are you prettier but your stronger, more decisive and just more destroyed than her.”

“Destroyed?” Beth asked.

Vincent nodded, “Yes. More hurt and have more pain inside of you. You were born evil, you have it in your soul.”

Beth stared at the floor, “This is all so confusing. You destroyed my life. You pinned everyone against me, all so that I would go on your side?”

Vincent nodded, “Yes that is true. And it has worked.”

Nathaniel growled, “You made her evil. She should be good and not a killer. She has a good heart, she is beautiful and the most wonderful person in the world but you hurt her. How could you do that to her?”

Vincent laughed, “Easily. I wanted her on my side.”

Beth plopped on the floor, “And I can’t remain neutral.”

Daniel nodded, “You have to choose and soon or else you will die and it’ll fall onto another girl.”

Vincent shrugged, “Doesn’t matter to me. I can easily manipulate the next girl to be on my side. It’ll just be another ruined soul that you ruined and if you choose God, then I’ll do it anyways. I can hurt you humans forever. If you choose God then that just means he has the upper hand and can destroy the humans that I use. It’ll make it harder for me to do what I do best. But this war will never end.”

Nathaniel looked at Daniel, “What does he mean?”

Daniel nodded, “He’s right. It never will. Good cannot exist without evil and evil cannot exist without good. We just…use you humans to give ourselves points.”

Nathaniel frowned, “You use us too?! You don’t care about us!?”

Daniel shook his head, “I do care about you guys. But you guys are just humans. We rule your world right now.”

“And we always will,” Vincent said with a grin.

Beth stood up and slapped Daniel then Vincent who grabbed hold of her wrist, “You guys are a bunch of jerks.”

Vincent grinned, “Thank you. But now I make your choice for you,” he then forcefully kissed her.

Daniel rubbed his cheek, “Ouch.”

Beth tried to pull back but couldn’t, her skin began to turn gray. Nathaniel stood up and tackled Vincent but it was too late, Beth’s skin had already turned fully gray. Beth wiped her mouth, “Huh? Where am I? What is a human doing here!?”

Vincent grinned and shoved Nathaniel to a wall, “Too late human. She’s gone. Her human self is gone.”

Daniel closed his eyes and disappeared. Beth turned her head to the side and started to move her head in robotic like ways, “No Nathaniel is good…No we must kill him.”

Vincent glared at Beth and held a knife to Nathaniel’s neck, “Human Beth leave and I’ll let him live peacefully but you must come with me willingly and help me destroy those that god uses.”

“No hurting Nathaniel? If we do…I’ll fight her and it’ll be ruined,” Beth said slowly.

Nathaniel’s eyes widened as he watched Beth fight within herself. Vincent nodded and dropped Nathaniel and threw the knife outside, “See, no, none. Gone.”

Beth stopped moving in robotic movements and sounded like herself, “Okay. Deal. The demon thing that you did to me, it won’t ruin me. I will be yours willingly.”

Satan grinned and grabbed Beth by the waist and walked out of the house, “This is the beginning of the end.”
