Writing On Black Tape by Michelle W. – Chapter Four
Chapter 4- Chelsea
Beth blinked and was back on her bed and the teddy was soaked in something black; everyone was staring at her like she was crazy. Beth squeezed her eyes and held onto her neck. Nathaniel was the first one to talk, âWhat did you just do?â
Beth continued to rub her neck as tears swelled up, âNothing.â
Joanne stood there, wide eyed and speechless. Daniel pulled a chair out and said, âThere is definitely something odd about you.â
Gary sat on the floor against the wall and said, âI may have seen into your soul, but that was all about your past. Your little episode you just had, well you havenât had one before, have you?â
Beth continued to rub her neck, âWhy wonât my neck stop hurting?â
âWhat do you mean, nothing happened to your neck,â Nathaniel said, sitting down on her bed and scooting closer to her.
Beth shook her head, âNothing. What did you guys see?â
âNothing, we were talking and suddenly you justâŚwent blank. Your body was cold and we thought you had died. If you were breathing, we couldnât tell. What did you do?â Daniel replied.
âNothing, I laid down and closed my eyes andâŚnever mind. Itâs crazy, insane,â Beth said looking down at her bear and got up, âExcuse my Gary, I need to go to the bathroom and get a towel.â
Gary shook his head, âYouâre not getting out of here untill you tell us what we want to know,â Gary said not moving an inch.
Beth pulled on the door, âGary just move, I wonât be gone long, I need to clean up my bear, who knows how long till that black stuff becomes permanent.â
Gary looked at Joanne who nodded, âHeâs right. You need to tell us everything, right now.â
Beth shook her head, âNo. Now get out.â
Daniel went up to Beth and pulled her back then pushed her on to bed, âTell us. Now.â
Beth held tighter onto the bear, âWhy?â
Nathaniel scooted over to her and put his hand on the bear, âMaybe we can help.â Beth pushed him away and punched him in the gut. Nathaniel fell off the bed and stood up slowly, âWhat the hell was that for?!â
âDonât touch my bear,â Beth said staring angrily at him.
Joanne jumped at Beth and pinned her down on the bed, âDo you honestly think you can beat us? Itâs five against one.â
âCorrection, four against one,â Beth said pushing her off of her, still holding the bear close.
Joanne took out a cigarette and started to smoke, âI got what I wanted. Guys look at her neck.â
Daniel crept up to the bed, holding his hands out, âI wonât touch your bear, just let me have a look on your neck.â
âWhy?â Beth said covering the spot where she had been bitten.
Joanne exhaled, âShe has the mark.â
Nathaniel swallowed, âAre you sure itâs the mark?â
Joanne shrugged, âI only got a quick look at it. She didnât have it before though, I remember looked at weak spots when we were sitting together the first day she came here.â
Daniel sat on the bed, âI just need to see it, I wonât hurt you.â
Beth glared at him, âIâm not some dumb animal or toy. You can speak normally to me.â
Daniel sat down beside her, âI know that but the way you hit Nathaniel so suddenly, it has all of nervous. Now please let me look at your neck.â
Beth continued to cover it, âThis is where that thing bit me. Gah, I wish it would stop stinging.â
Nathaniel sighed, âJoanne I really hope your wrong.â
Gary stood up and sighed, âGirl, youâre too much trouble.â
âWhat thing?â Daniel asked eyeing her neck.
Beth began to fidget a little bit, âWhen I had what you guys call an episode. Something bit my neck and said ârevenge is paid in more than one way, and youâre getting bowl full of itâ that dumb thing, gah, I wish it wouldnât have bitten me.â
âRevenge is paid in more than one way and youâre getting a bowl full of it? Whatâs that supposed to mean?â Daniel asked still eyeing her neck.
Beth shrugged, âI donât know but it bit me way hard.â
Daniel reached up to her neck and slowly pulled her hand off of her neck, âJust a peek.â Beth got tense but said nothing as he did this. Daniel looked at where she was bitten. He could clearly see the two bite marks but around them was red numbers saying â666â the spot where she was bitten was black but you could tell the bite marks were recent. The middle six had a dark purple swirling with blue where black was on the other two. Daniel gasped and pulled back, âHow did you get that?â
Beth swallowed hard, âWhat do you mean? How did I get what?â
âYou have his mark on your neck, but it wasnât there when we checked your pulse when you had your episode and yet its there, right now.â
Nathanielâs eyes widened and got in front of Beth and looked at her neck and pouted, âYou belong to him now.â
Beth squinted and shook her head as she stood up on her bed, stepping around them she got off the bed, âI donât belong to nobody.â
Joanne shook her head, âDamn your clueless.â
Daniel sat there and took out a piece of gum and began to chew it as he asked, âWhat does the purple and blue mean though?â
Joanne shrugged, âCould mean anything like he already has control over her and this is just a fake thing and she doesnât even realize it. It could mean she was willingly taken under his control. Anything is possible.â
Nathaniel smiled and jumped up, âIt could mean that she isnât under his control and that he is having trouble with her. And that means she can still be on our side!!â
Gary nodded, âBoth possibilities are plausible.â
Beth shook her head, âI am not clueless. I have not lived in a sheltered home, in fact its quite the opposite.â
Joanne rolled her eyes, âWhen I said clueless I meant that you donât know anything about the war going on between heaven and hell. They used to fight between old guys or young children or mothers and fathers. They used to put families against each other but now theyâve realized that teens are the best to their advantage. We are younger, full of more energy, arenât restricted by rules that much, donât have bills to pay. There has been a war between Jesus and Satan and we are their pawns. Humans like me and you.â
Beth rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, âSure, thatâs believable.â
Daniel nodded, âItâs true. Ever since mankind begun its been that way. Of course we die for them, but we are the only things that can get to the other without a penalty. Humans are both good and bad, both live in our souls. We can get close to Jesus or Satan if we choose. And we can harm Jesus and Satan.â
Beth laughed and went back to rubbing her neck, âYou guys are funny. Nathaniel tried this on me. You guys verses Jill and whoever is evil on her side. A silly school team thing.â
Gary shook his head, âEach of us has a unique power to cause enemyâs harm. Mine, well you know what mine is, you and I both felt it. You felt power against me and I got weakened from when you were younger.â
Joanne looked at Gary, âHold up, how much do you know about her?â
âTill she was about seven years old. Thatâs when the worst things happened, atleast thatâs as far as I was able to go.â
Beth smirked and shook her head, âThen youâve just barely grasped about me. What you saw when I was six and seven was just barely the beginning. At eleven is when it gets a lotâŚworse andâŚwell, you know what I mean.â
Gary gasped, âAre you saying you still do that stuff to people?â
Beth shrugged, âI almost came to doing them a few times since Iâve been here.â
Gary shook his head, âYou should be in Jail.â
Beth smiled, âAnd yet, Iâm not.â
Nathaniel looked at Beth and at Gary, âWhy should she be in jail?â
Gary growled at her, âYouâre luck youâve always had a good excuses and your lucky I canât tell them.â
Joanne looked at Gary then at Beth, âDonât worry Nathaniel, weâll get it out of her soon.â
Beth shook her head, âItâs not as bad as you think Gary, Iâve gotten better.â
âBetter at what-â Gary tried to say the next word but couldnât manage to.
Beth shrugged, âDefense Gary, and you know thatâs what happened when I was five. I had every right to do what I did. I no longer feel guilty.â
Daniel watched them argue then said, âOkay guys, shut up. Beth tell us what happened in your episode.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âWhy? So you guys can send me to a mental hospital and say that I killed Chelsea?â
Nathaniel shook his head, âNo so we can help you. So we can tell if youâre really on their side or ours or just an unfortunate normal.â
âAn unfortunate normal? You people are insane,â Beth said sitting down, holding her bear tight.
Daniel shook his head, âNo, not at all. We really do want to help and from the sounds of it, you are very clueless as to the war and to whatâs going on with your body.â
âNothing is going on with my body. My episodes started when I came here. Nathaniel saw the effects of the first one, the bite on my leg and the burn on my arm.â
Nathaniel looked at her confused, âI did?â
âYea you even said so yourself, one minute it was there and the next it wasnât,â Beth said looking at her arm.
Nathaniel nodded, âThatâs true.â
âHow many episodes have you had?â Joanne asked as took out another cigarette.
âJust two. That one time when Nathaniel noticed and this one,â Beth replied sticking her nose into the bear and inhaled deeply then gagged and dropped the bear.
âWhat were they about?â Gary asked.
âCompletely different things. One dealt with school and the other dealt with darkness,â Beth said poking her bear.
âCould you please tell us about it?â Nathaniel asked.
Beth looked away, âI told Chelsea about the first episode and she disappeared or died.â
âThat wonât happen to us,â Joanne said, âIf you tell us then we know what to look for and will be careful and that we can avoid it.â
Beth sighed, âIf it matters that much then fine. But when you die, it wonât be on me.â
Daniel smiled, âThank god.â
Beth sighed and said, âI was sitting here and I laid back and closed my eyes then opened them and suddenly I was in dark room. I think there was snakes crawling across the floor and I felt slobber all over my foot. So I ran backwards and bumped into a wall and I felt arms wrap around me, not letting me move. And then I heard it say what I told you earlier and it bit me then dropped me and the next thing I know, Iâm here and you guys are all staring at me.â
Daniel thought about this and shook his head, âThatâs weird. When that happened your body like when limp and dead. We were all scared and about to call your foster parents.â
Joanne laughed, âThatâs not possible, you didnât leave this room.â
Beth shook her head, âIt happened, you asked and I told. So donât even start on me.â
Nathaniel nodded, âThatâs true.â
Beth sighed and hit the wall, âHumph, this all stupid.â
Gary said quietly, âItâs like astral projection.â
âHuh?â Beth asked.
âAstral projection. Like when your spirit leaves your body and it goes somewhere else, that what it sounds like. It sounds like that happened to you,â Gary said louder for all to hear him.
âAstral projection? I never thought of that but it is possible. That might be what your power is,â Daniel said.
âI donât have any power. I canât control it, it just happens at random times and each time I get hurt,â Beth said angrily.
Joanne rolled her eyes, âSure.â
Beth grabbed pulled a drawer out of the desk and through it at Joanne, âGet the hell out and leave me alone.â
Joanne held her hand up and caught the drawer in a beam of white light and put the drawer down on the floor, âDonât try that stuff on me. Iâm not easily surprised.â
Bethâs eyes widened, âHow did you do that?â
âGodâs warrior. I was lucky, I got this power,â Joanne said smiling.
Daniel laughed, âThat was unexpected from the both of you.â
Nathaniel nodded, âYea but it was funny.â
Gary nodded, âNow I think we need to find out what Bethâs power is and we need to train her and keep her on our side.â
Beth groaned and hit her head against the wall, âI am not on nobodyâs side and I donât need no training.â
Daniel nodded, âI agree with Gary, she needs to be trained and on our side.â
Joanne through her hands up in the air, âI donât know what to do with her. She has his mark, she might be on his side. But then again she might not be. I donât wanna keep her around if she is indeed against us but I also want her on our side because she could make us stronger. Satanâs helper against him,â she smiled, âThat would throw him off balance and damn that would make us stronger. But what if she really did kill Chelsea, what if she is waiting to kill us all? But is it worth it?â
Beth shook her head, âYouâre thinking too much. Have you considered what I want?â
Joanne shook her head, âNope because what you want doesnât matter. Your fate is based on us and on God and Satan.â
Beth groaned, âI hate you.â
Daniel laughed, âWow. Well Joanne I understand your worries but its not only what you think. We all need to discuss this and what Beth says does go into this.â
Joanne shook her head, âNo, Beth has absolutely no say in this.â
In unison Gary and Nathaniel said, âI agree with Daniel.â
Joanne groaned, âBut why does she have a say in it?â
âBecause its my future we are talking about!â Beth yelled.
âBeth clam down, chill, relax. No loud noises, we donât want your foster parents to come up here and hear what we are talking about,â Daniel said calmly.
Nathaniel nodded, âBeth, no attracting attention to yourself.â
Gary nodded, âBeth you areâŚnotâŚwellâŚjust stay out of trouble donât do what you have done when you were younger.â
âThat wasnât my fault,â stiffly Beth said.
Gary shrugged, âI say it is, but whatever.â
âSo what are we going to do about her?â Joanne said angrily.
âTake her to the party tonight and see what happens. We need to find out why and how she has these episodes plus you know what the party is a cover up for. If sheâs there and able to see what happens during the fight then weâll know that might be one of us,â Daniel said spitting his gum out into his hand and making it disappear.
âYou guys organize your fights?â Beth asked hiding a giggle.
Joanne rolled her eyes, âNo dumbo. Jesus and Satan do but only at rare times. Like when someone new is entering one of their teams or if someone has a possibility of joining their team.â
âOne day I will kill you,â Beth said smiling.
âKilling isnât a joking matter,â Gary said.
âIâve done it before,â Beth said then gasped and covered her mouth with both hands.
Gary laughed, âOh dang girl, you fell right into that one!! Now they all know that you have killedâŚpeople.â
Nathanielâs eyes widened, âWhat!?â
Danielâs jaw dropped. And Joanne nodded, âI knew it, youâre a cold blooded kill her.â
Beth shrugged, âPeople make me angry, I hurt them. I never meant to kill them, except for my step fatherâŚbut he was a completely different story. Anyways, I never intended for anyone to die, it just happened. I jabbed the pencil in a wrong end or something, or even in the arm and somehow they would die. At first I felt guilty but nowâŚnow I donât.â
âHow many have you killed?â Nathaniel asked sadly.
âWhat did they do to make you kill them and why was your step father a different story?â Daniel asked.
âI donât know. And they touched my teddy bear, teased me, hit me, beat me up, broke a bone or I just plain didnât like them. And he was a different story because I had purposely meant to kill him,â Beth said, âHe was the only one I ever meant to kill. And Gary you know that I had a great reason.â
Gary frowned and nodded, âThat you did but why didnât you go to the police or tell your mom?â
âMy mom saw it happening and you know that. I had to stop him, he had killed my baby brother, itâs his teddy bear I take everywhere with me. He was the only one who stood up to daddy. He told daddy to stop hurting me and touching me in places a dad shouldnât. Daddy killed him with his own teddy bear. When I saw that, I went over the cliff and killed him.â
Nathaniel was speechless and Daniel was amazed, âWhat exactly did your step father do to you?â
Beth looked away and sadly replied, âHe raped me, molested me, beat me, stabbed me, cut me, threw me against walls, made me clean and cook. Heâd stick mud down my shirt and tease me and laugh at me when I fell. Heâd lock me up in a cellar for days without food or water. Heâd make me eat bugs for food. He push me out in the winter naked and have me standing there waiting for the âblanket manâ to come to give me blankets. The âblanket manâ never came. Iâd be out there for so long I was blue all over. Then he push me back inside and laugh at me and tease me and call me names and say how he hated me. The whole time my mother would just watch and when she asked him to stop, heâd slap her and say âI love you and I love her, Iâm just doing it for herâ and then she would shut her mouth and watch me get torturedâŚ.
âMy little brother was the only one willing to stand up to him. When dad would lock me down in the cellar, he would sneak me down food and when he left me outside my brother would give me his clothes or stand out there with me as he we waited. The man drank all the time and did drugs. He rarely went to work so my mom did. I was left alone with him when my brother got sent to daycare. For two years I was without my brother to protect me, but that day when brother came home, he saw my step dad having a shower with me in his lap and me crying, trying to get away. My brother stood up and had asked him what he was doing and when he said nothing, my brother asked me. And I begged my brother to help me get out. So thatâs what he did. And my dad killed him with the bear that my brother had been holding,â Beth finished and her chin was held out stubbornly and she was holding back tears.
Nathaniel ran up to her and hugged her tightly, âIâm so sorry to hear that.â
Beth pushed him away, âI donât need your pity. I killed the man and my mother. Then burried my brother in his favorite spot on the yard and cried over his grave. For days I did nothing but cry over it but then Ann Ply, thatâs my foster police person.â
Joanne stood there wide eyed and finally said, âWow, thatâs a big secret.â
Beth nodded, âMhmm.â
Daniel finally held his hand up, âOkay, how did a five year old kill an old man?â
Nathaniel nodded, âThatâs a good question, how did you kill him?â
Gary looked at them, âThatâs one weird thing.â
Joanne nodded, âYea, how did you do that!?â
Beth shrugged, âWhen he went to get my brother I fell off of him and hit the tub, oddly enough a piece broke and I grabbed it then charged at him and hit him in the leg. He fell and I reached up for the tooth brush as he reached for me. I managed to grab it and it was balancing on a glass cup the went flying against the wall and broke. I took the toothbrush and stabbed him in the eye. He screamed and I pulled it out and stabbed him in the eye over and over again. He held his eye with one hand and he grabbed me with the other. He yelled something that I couldnât understand he started to pull me by my shoulder.
âI slipped on water and fell. I started to bleed from my head but ignored the pain and found a large piece of glass from the broken cup and I stabbed him repeatedly. I ran into the kitchen when he let go of me. He fallowed me, he wouldnât die so I jumped on him and stabbed him anywhere I could reach, well I finally hit a vein in his neck. He finally died.â
Danielâs eyes widened, âWow, you were lucky then.â
Joanne nodded and growled, âI still hate you.â
Nathaniel reached over and slowly hugged Beth, âIâm sorry to hear that Thingâs like that shouldnât happen to good people.â
Beth stiffed up but said nothing. Daniel shook his head and shrugged, âI have absolutely no idea of what to do with that information.â
Joanne groaned out of frustration, âOh my goodness, what are we, what am I going to do?â
Beth shrugged, âDo nothing and leave me alone.â
Nathaniel shook his head as he hugged her still, âWe canât do that. You have his mark on you and justâŚyou are one very complicated girl.â
Beth shrugged, âNot my faultâŚwell part of it is, but not all of it.â
Gary shrugged and said, âI say we take her out tonight and go to the party. Maybe we can find something about Chelsea too.â
Joanne put her cigarette out and tossed the bud out in the yard, âSounds good. Maybe the killer will finally admit to what sheâs done with the body,â Joanne then pushed Gary aside and left.
Gary fallowed her and Daniel smiled weakly and whispered, âI donât think you would kill Chelsea,â he then got up and left.
Nathaniel pulled back from hugging and stuck his hand down his pocket, âI got something for you.â
âWhat now?â Beth asked looking at his hands.
Nathaniel pulled out Chelseaâs necklace and a small box but then he put the box away and handed her Chelseaâs necklace, âI stole it from Joanne. Figured out youâd want this back, and I really do believe you. Iâm not leaving with them, Iâm staying here and Daniel knows that. Heâll tell them.â
Beth took it and held it close to her heart, âOh thank you so much. Iâve felt so bad since it was ripped from my neck,â she then embraced him in a tight but only for a short second and pulled back, âUmm, yea thanksâŚwhy are you staying here?â
âTo keep you company and to keep you safe,â Nathaniel said smiling.
Beth rolled her eyes, âDo you think I killed Chelsea?â
Nathaniel shook his head, âNot in the least bit. I know you didnât. Youâre heart is too kind.â
Beth laughed and smiled, âThanks for the kind words, but you canât possible believe that after knowing Iâve killed both my step dad and my mom and a lot of other people.â
Nathaniel shrugged, âI do believe them and I donât care if you did or didnât.â
âWhy?â Beth asked looking at him in bewilderment.
Nathaniel smiled, âPeople can redeem themselves. Plus you were five years old. Gimme a break. You were scared, alone, you saw the only one who ever cared about you dead and you killed the man who killed your brother. Itâs understandable. At leastâŚto me it is.â
Beth shook her head and sighed, âYour heart is too big and youâre too kind. But I wish everyone else understood me like you do right now.â
Nathaniel laughed, âMy heart is not big and I am not kind. I justâŚIâm just a fool.â
âWhy would you say that? Your not in the least bit a fool. Your kind, sensitive, nice, wonderful and justâŚwow. A dream guy.â
âThatâs what makes me fool. I go after what I canât have,â Nathaniel replied.
âThat doesnât make you a fool, it makes you a love bird, or a teddy bear. A bigâŚâ Beth looked away blushing and shook her head, âUmm justâŚgod, your not a fool so donât say you are.â
Nathaniel laughed, âOkay okay okay! I wonât say Iâm a fool but you gotta kiss me to prove it.â
Beth shook her head and scooted away from him, âNo. Iâm not going to allow myself to get any closer to you then I already am. We are just friends, please, please can we just leave it at that?â
Nathaniel sighed and looked away, âAnd thatâs why Iâm a fool.â
Beth shook her head, âYouâre not a fool. Youâre justâŚdetermined.â
âDetermined?â Nathaniel asked unsure.
Beth nodded, âVery determined and unsure.â
âUnsure? Unsure of what?â Nathaniel asked.
âOf what youâre doing and justâŚyouâre just unsure of me and what Iâm doing and on whether or not you trust me,â Beth said yawning.
Nathaniel shook his head, âIâm very sure and I do trust you and I do know that there is good in you. Whether you and or anyone else deny it. I know youâre trustable and dependable.â
Beth sighed, âBut why?â
âBecause you do have good in you and I can feel it, I can just tell,â Nathaniel said as he smiled.
Beth sighed, âWhatever you say.â
Nathaniel looked out the window, âOnly a few more hours till we see what you can do.â
Beth groaned and picked up her bear, âI canât do nothing, okay!? Iâm just an unfortunate normal with a sad past. I donât have any powers and thatâs the way its staying. Iâm not on nobodyâs side. I just know about those things. Ainât nobody going to bride me to their side. Iâm on my own side, with no powers.â
âYou know just as well as I do, a five year old wouldnât and shouldnât be able to kill a fifty year old man and her mother all in the same night. They would stop from terror and being scared of what would happen to them.â
âThatâs where unfortunate normal with a sad past comes in the picture.â
âThink of it this way. Five year olds donât even know the meaning of death in the first place and have not in the least bit idea of how to kill a person and even if they did, theyâd probably cry afterwards and go to an adult and say that their mommy and daddy died. You didnât. You killed him with the intention of killing him. You didnât know how to kill him but you used your resources and someone or something had to have been there helping you, giving you that extra boost of luck so that you could kill them.â
Beth flicked him in the back of the head, âAre you saying either God or Satan lent me some extra luck so that I could kill my step dad and mom?â
Nathaniel rubbed the spot where he was hit, âThatâs exactly what Iâm saying. But Iâm questioning and wondering, why they would do that.â
Beth slapped the back of his head, âDamn your imagination gets out of hand. Have you ever had your brain examined?â
Nathaniel rubbed his head, âOw!! Stop that!! And why canât you just accept the truth? The truth that you might not just be a little unfortunate girl. That underneath it all your still that scared five year old wanting a loving mom and dad. That although youâve killed those two and others, that you still live for revenge; and that God and or Satan might be there helping you, egging you on to continue. That humans arenât the rulers of the universe, that there are greater beings than us. That we arenât at the top of the food chain.â
Beth got in front of him and slapped his cheek, âHow dare you talk to me like that. I donât know what youâre talking about. I grew up the day that man touched me, the day that man killed my baby brother.â
âWhy wonât you say your baby brotherâs name? Why canât you just accept the fact that fate is leading you elsewhere and that youâre life isnât going according to your plan?â
Beth punched him in the gut, âShut up!! Shut up!! Just shut up!!!â
Nathaniel bent over holding his stomach and spat up some blood, âI wonât. You need to hear this from someone who cares.â
Tears began to burn Bethâs eyes, âI could kill you right now and I wouldnât think about it later on at all. Youâre just another jerk to me, all of the human race is.â
Nathaniel looked up at her and reached up and touched her cheek, which she swatted away, âYou wonât kill me, you and I both know that.â
Beth pulled out a pocket knife and tackled him to the floor as tears began to fall down. She held the knife to his neck, âI can and I will. Donât challenge me Nathaniel. You donât know me, you donât know anything about me and how I am. You know that I killed my father. I killed a janitor at school, Iâve killed police officers, I once killed a governor and almost killed the president. My heart died the day my brother died, all that is there now is just a cold black whole. I will kill you if I have to.â
Nathaniel looked at her and smiled weakly, âDo what you have to Beth. If you choose to kill me, I wonât stop you. I wonât warn you about what the others will do if they find out you killed me,â he held his hands up, âI swear I wonât stop you Beth.â
Beth pushed harder against his neck, breaking the skin, âDonât tease me. Iâm not in the mood.â
âIâm not teasing you!! I just told you what you needed to hear and I asked why,â Nathaniel said looking into her eyes.
Beth looked back into his eyes as tears fell and she kept the pressure, âShut up Nathaniel. Youâre a liar. You want me to kill you, you want everyone to know that Iâm a killer. Well guess what!? They already know!!â
As Nathaniel looked into Bethâs eyes he saw empty blackness, he noticed that there was no eye color at all and sighed, âFine, you caught me. You win, we all know youâre a killer. You had no right to kill that man and you need to go to jail. You didnât love your mother or father. You donât even know who your real father is or if your âlittleâ brother even is your real younger brother.â
Beth was caught by surprise and her eyes widened. Nathaniel smiled and rolled over on top of her, squeezed her wrist and took the knife away then tossed it aside. Beth kicked and hit his face with her elbow. Nathaniel sighed and held her hands down. Beth growled at him, trying to bite him, âI will kill you. You may have caught me by surprise but your demise will come soon and swiftly. Trust me.â
Nathaniel shook his head and looked at her, âBeth I didnât want it to come to this. I donât want to be killed and I donât want to arrest you but what you did was wrong. Maybe youâre the one who needs to be killed.â
Bethâs eyes widened and she gasped and shook her head, âPlease, please, please donât hurt me.â
Nathaniel smiled, âWhy not?â
Beth looked away, âI donât know. I know I deserve to be killed and that Iâve killed many others but Iâm afraid of death. Iâm afraid of what comes after it.â
Nathaniel sighed heavily, âWhat am I going to do with you?â
âNow you sound like Joanne.â
âSo? What does that matter?â Nathaniel said stubbornly.
âShe hates me and is very and utterly annoying.â
Nathaniel sighed, âFine, whatever. Are you back to normal?â
Beth nodded, âYea, sorry about that whole killing you thing. I donât know whate over came me.â
Nathaniel got off of her, âNeither do I. You were acting like yourself, more like somethingâŚsomething was controlling you.â
Beth stood up and looked out the window, âI know, when Iâm angry, I donât feel like myself and that time I couldnât control how upset I got so I threatened you. Iâm truly sorry.â
Nathaniel went up behind her and patted her back, âItâs okay Beth. It happens to the best of us.â
âIt does?â
âYep, it just makes us human.â
âWell Iâm tired of it, Iâm tired of not knowing who or what I am. Iâm tired of seeing things and not knowing if theyâre real or not.â
âYou see things?â
Beth nodded, âYou know when Gary and Joanne kissed and I told you how I thought the principal walked by?â
Nathaniel nodded, âYea, that was weird.â
âWellâŚthe principal was also kinda a big green monster.â
âKinda a big green monster?â
Beth nodded, âSounds crazy, I know.â
âHow long has this been happening?â
âUmm that was the only time and it never happened before I came here.â
âWow, so like this place really doesâŚhave an effect on you?â
âYea, it does and it sucks. I donât know if Iâm good or bad or what Iâm supposed to do. This isnât the life I would have chosen for anybody.â
âYou donât choose your life, itâs just given to you and you must accept that fact.â
âHumph. So tell me about this party of your guys thatâs just a cover up for a fight.â
âItâs like any other party.â
âHow so?â
âThereâs beer, alcohol, drugs, dancing, food, you know? Those kind of things.â
âI meant about the fight.â
âOh, well we basically just fight.â
âFist fight or hand to hand or punches or slaps or what?â
âOh, well itâs kinda like both. We use our powers given to us and throw some punches along the way. We have to make it look like a real teenager fight, not a fight from the heavens.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âSure, like they donât have adults on their side to stop you guyâs from being arrested.â
Nathaniel sighed and hit his head against the window glass, âWhy donât you believe in this? I mean youâre probably the main reason for this. So you can pick whose side you want to be on and what your going to do.â
âIâm not on nobodyâs side. Iâm on my own side, and nobody is gonna change it.â
âYouâre going to have to accept it and youâre going to have to understand and choose.â
âI wonât and will not. I donât care what you or anybody else says.â
Nathaniel sighed, âDonât be so stubborn.â
âWhy not?â Beth said opening the window.
âBecause itâll do nothing but cause trouble for you. You canât stop whatâs already in the making,â
âOh my god, you are so annoying. Stop preaching to me.â
Nathaniel leaned out of the window, âHave you ever tried climbing up on the roof?â
Beth shook her head and pulled back, âNo, why?â
âBecause it would be fun.â
âStop changing the subject on me. It isnâtâŚâshe sighs, âWhy do you insist on preaching me?â
âI donât insist on preaching you and I donât. Iâm just telling you so that Joanne doesnât get all mad at you and stuff. Now give me a boost when I need it,â Nathaniel replied as he reached up to the side of the wall and climbed out with his feet on the window sill.
âHow am I supposed to do that? And why are you always trying to look out for me? I can take care of myself,â Beth said as she watched him.
Nathaniel climbed reached up for a piece of wood and started to climb up, âHey this isnât that hard. Oh wow, itâs going to be so cool on the top. Iâm not actually that far.â
âStop changing the subject on me.â
âIâm not, you didnât ask me a question so Iâm just telling you about how it is up here so that you will come up here to. We can give those freak of foster parents of yours a scare.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âOh my god, you are so annoying.â
âAnd yet Iâm the reason youâve lasted this far. I take care of you and make sure youâre okay so get up and out of your bedroom,â Nathaniel said as he reached up for the root top and started to pull himself up on it. Once on the roof he leaned over and looked down, âCome on scardy cat.â
Beth looked out the window, âI donât wannna.â
âWhy not?â
âBecauseâŚbecauseâŚI just donât want to.â
âChicken butt.â
âI am not.â
âThen prove it!!!â Beth started to climb out of the window and reached up to a piece of wood and started to climb out but her hand slipped and she hit her back against the wall and let out a yell. Nathaniel gasped and reached down, âBethany!!! Are you okay?â Bethâs eyes flashed black and suddenly she jumped out of the window and started to crawl up the side of the wall. Nathaniel stood up and walked backwards, âBethâŚIâm sorry, please calm down and relax.â
âI could have died!!! Youâre stupid idea of climbing up here, arenât you just the brilliant minded freak?!â Beth screeched at him.
Nathaniel held his hands up, âIâm sorry, I didnât realize that you would slip. I was wrong to have forced you and to have called you a chicken butt. I was wrong, please forgive me.â
Beth stood there, leaning over him and watched him as her eyes flashed back to normal, âOh my god, how did I make it up here?â She blinked and looked over then gasped and sat down, âNo standing up anymore for me.â
âAre you okay? Are you back to normal?â Nathaniel asked watching her closely.
Beth eyes flashed black, âI can go back to being mad if you really want me to.â
Nathaniel shook his head, âNo, not at all. I wonât say anything else, I promise.â
Bethâs eyes flashed back to normal, âOkay, thanks. Iâm sorry if I scared you.â
Nathaniel shook his head, âYou are definitely one confusing person. But I like that about you, thereâs a lot of mysteriousness to it which is wonderful.â
âWonderful for who? You or me?â Beth said with a smile.
Nathaniel grinned, âFor both of us.â
âHow so?â
âWell itâs good for me because that meansâŚwell it means a lot of bad things mostly but itâs good because I really like that about you. And itâs good for you because that means youâll have me chasing you down till I figure you out.â
Beth pouted, âBut then once you find out about me, youâll leave,â Beth then giggles, âNot that I care if you leave me alone.â
âYou have a lot of mood swings.â
âI have a lot of things to hide from the world, I wish I could keep up my shield but you justâŚ.ugh, you justâŚdestroy them. Itâs not right. I donât want to and I donât need to like you, yet I do. And itâs driving me insane.â
Nathaniel fell back laughing, âThatâs a good thing for me. Well bad and good but mostly good. Maybe next time Iâll be able to kiss you and you wonât freak.â
Beth groaned, âOkay forget about me and my problems. Why did you act why when I first met you but now youâre all prince charming and not shy and all confident?â
âThat was part of the plan when we meet people. I act shy and if they donât like how one of us acts then they leave on their own, or we make them leave. Joanne acted nice which she usually isnât. Daniel, well he acted like himself and Gary, well he acted like a goofball which he isnât.â
âSo you guys switch attitudes to see how people react?â
Nathaniel nodded and sat up, âYou didnât seem to care so that part of walking beside you and blushing, well it was fake. Donât ask me how but I have ways of making myself blush when needed. That just sorta like an extra test which you passed.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âLucky me.â
âWhy are you so such a drama queen, wellâŚnot drama queen butâŚmoody and emotional.â
âIâve always been this way. Iâm happy then sad then pissed and angry and then Iâm giggly. Just mood swings, Iâm way worse on my period.â
âThanks, I really needed to know that,â Nathaniel said sarcastically.
âWell you asked so I told you,â Beth said watching him.
Nathaniel bit his tongue then said, âI asked about why you have mood swings, not about your period.â
âHey, I was just warning you, your welcome.â
âI didnât need to be warned.â
Beth laughed, âBut hey, that just means Iâm not preggy.â
Nathaniel groaned, âGodâŚblessed. Youâre insane.â
âDonât forget mysterious,â Beth said with a smile.
Nathaniel hit her arm, âDarn you for attracting me.â
Beth stared at him like he was stupid, âItâs not my fault. And donât hit me. Or I will hit you back. Iâm not like other girls.â
âI know, I know, I know. You killed your step-father and your real mom. And you might be related to Seth, who died in our war, which you are going to be part of.â
Beth glared at him, âIâm not exactly proud of what I did and I have no idea how I did it.â
Nathaniel looked up at the sky, âSoon weâre going to have to go. And then we will find out whose warrior you are and which side you will be on.â
Beth groaned, âIâm not anybodyâs warrior and I ainât on nobodyâs side. Why donât you understand?â
Nathaniel sighed, âBecause itâs true. The only time there are arranged fights are when a newcomer is joining someoneâs side. There was an arranged fight when I came. And Iâm sure there was one when Joanne, Gary and Daniel arrived tooâŚI was like you once but that arranged fight completely changed my mind.â
Beth rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, âSure there were and Iâm angel from Satan.â
Nathanielâs eyes widened, âYou are?â
âOh my god, youâre an idiot. Iâm not angel for Satan or God. Iâm just a girl with a sad past who belongs in jail, a girl who canât control her emotions.â
Nathaniel sighed, âDonât say that about yourself.â
âDonât say what? Thatâs the truth.â
âYou donât belong in jail and so what if you canât control your emotions. Itâs what makes you special.â
âYes I do Nathaniel. You donât understand. My step-father and my mom were just the beginning. Iâve killed many other people over stupid reasons. Touching my bear, looking at me wrong or doing something as simple as disobeying me. And each time, I wasnât caught, something else happened to make it not appear to be me. Iâd simple stab them in the arm and theyâd die. Iâve killed many people Nathaniel.â
Nathaniel covered his ears, âI donât want to hear that.â
Beth took a hold of his hands and took them away from his ears, âItâs all true Nathaniel. Nobody is safe around me. Gary only saw the worst thing I did which was killing my mother, I tried not to kill her but I did anyways. I couldnât stop. She had ran in and she looked healthier and better than ever. She had came in saying something about me and her and my brother leaving him. She ran into the kitchen and saw him trying to hurt me. She tried to stop him but then I misunderstood and stabbed her. She screamed and cried.
âShe tried to stop him, which helped me a little bit but I didnât see it that way. I saw it as her taking my kill, taking away the man, as helping him so that she could kill me. My little five year old mind went crazy and once he was dead I went after her. I mistook her tears of joy that he was gone as her crying because I had killed him. I thought she was against me.
âInside I knew that she wasnât on drugs and that she was healthy and she just looked a lot better and more confident but I couldnât stop myself. I killed her, and once she was dead I continued to stab her. I blamed her for dieing. I killed my mom even though I knew deep down that she wasnât the enemy and that she was just trying to help me,â Beth finished, stopping his arms from covering his ears.
Nathaniel tried to pull his hands free of her grip, âYou were young and scared. You didnât realize itâŚI donât wanna hear this Bethany Mc Roa.â
Beth continued to keep his hands down, âYou told me that I need to accept the fact that Iâm going to be in a war in which is between God/Jesus and Satan. Well you need to accept the fact that Iâm not perfect. That I am a murderer. That I have killed people just because I could. That Iâm not the angel you think I am. That I could possibly kill you at any moment.â
Nathaniel shook his head, âYouâre not perfect, no one but Jesus is. I do accept those things but that doesnât stop me from liking you.â
Beth let go of his hands and pushed him down on his back, âYouâre stupid then.â
âOw!â Nathaniel yelped as he got pushed down. He quickly sat up, âStupid and proud. Youâre lucky I believe that youâre good or else Joanne would have thrown you to the curb once Chelsea went missing.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âYou wouldnât have stayed away from me either way.â
Nathaniel looked away, âSo? Youâre still lucky I like you and believe that youâre good because from what I just heard, it already sounds like you belong on Satanâs side.â
âThen let me be on his side.â
Nathaniel shook his head, âNo can do. For one you donât like Jill and for two, I really like you and Iâm not going to let Satan have you.â
Beth smiled sadly, âThatâs really sweet of you to say but Satan has moreâŚpowers than you. It is powers right?â
Nathaniel smiled, âSo what? I was almost on his side but pulled through and made it to the good side. I have a lot more determination than that old fool.â
Beth laughed, âThat old fool? I bet heâs pretty wise if heâs old.
Nathaniel smiled, âSee I made you laugh. Letâs see if he can do that. And wise? If he was wise he would have given up this fight years ago.â
âNot necessarily. Wise doesnât mean you give up when it gets tough or you know youâre probably going to loose.â
âYea but he should know by now that he canât win.â
Beth shrugged and stood up, âI wanna head there early. Iâm curious.â
Nathaniel stood up, âSure, just let me call Joanne and tell her,â he then took out his cell phone and called Joanne, âHey Jo-JoâŚyea this is Nathaniel. Beth and I are goinâ there right now. Beth decided she she wanted to be earlyâŚdonât worry weâll be fineâŚweâll take care of ourselvesâŚno I havenât done anything like thatâŚokay whatever. Weâre leaving now.â
Beth looked at Nathaniel, âWhat did she say?â
âShe asked if we had done anything like kissing and the sort. She doesnât want me to do anything like that with you till we find out,â Nathaniel replied sighing.
Beth rolled her eyes and walked to the edge of the front of the building, âHow are we goinâ to get down?â
âClimb down, we should jump this high, but when we get down to at least the second story it should be fine to jump down,â Nathaniel said as he put his cell phone in his pocket and walked the edge with her, âHere, Iâll go down first and show you.â
Beth pulled him back and shook her head, âNuh uh, no way. Iâm going down first. You got to climb up first so Iâm going down first.â
Nathaniel thought and shrugged, âOkay, just be careful.â
Beth turned around and hung her feet over the edge and started to climb down when she heard a car coming and froze. Nathaniel stood and saw a cop car, âItâs just some old cop car. They shouldnât stop. Its not illegal to climb.â Beth nodded and continued to climb down as the car stopped at the house. Nathaniel sighed, âThey stopped here.â
Ann Ply got out of the cop car and walked to the house and looked up at Beth and her eyes widened, âBeth what in the world are you doing?â
Beth gasped then smiled, âJust climbinâ with a friend. We got bored so we climbed on the roof, donât worry. The Tervals know that Iâm up here.â
âDo they know about your âfriendâ?â
Beth nodded and she slowly climbed down, holding onto the roof top still, âYep, so donât worry Miss Ply.â
Ann Ply sighed, âJust be careful Ms Mc Roa.â
âWill do, why are you here again?â Beth asked as she looked up at Nathaniel, who was silent as he stood there.
âJust checking up on you to make sure youâre okay. Do you like it here?â Ann replied.
Beth nodded, âItâs nice, theyâre nice.â
Ann smiled and got back in her car, âGood bye then. Iâll come back sometime soon.â
Beth simply said, âBye Miss Ply.â
Ann Ply left and Nathaniel sighed heavily, âGood sheâs gone and not taking you away. Why did you say that they knew we were up here?â
Beth smiled as she let go of the roof with one hand, âLetâs just say the Tervals and I have an agreement, actually itâs more like arrangement. But either way you get my point.â
Nathaniel laughed, âYouâre making it sound like you have a perfect life with them.â
Beth let reached down for something to grab but saw nothing as her hand slipped and she fell backwards and she let out a small yelp. Nathaniel stood there wide-eyed as he watched her fall. Bethâs eyes flashed black and she grabbed a hold of the wall and caught hold of a window sill and growled then her eyes turned back to normal, she was panting, âClose call, donât you think?â
Nathaniel smiled and nodded, âYea, super close call.â
Beth looked down and laughed then jumped and landed on the ground, âI managed to get a hold of the wall when Iâm like five feet above the ground.â
âFive feet or three feet or ten feet, all that matters is that youâre safe,â Nathaniel said as he scanned the wall.
âTrue but how are you going to get down?â Beth asked as she scratched her head.
âIâm trying to figure that out right now,â Nathaniel said.
âWell when I could, what through me off was the fact that I couldnât find anything to grab a hold of.â
Nathaniel nodded, âI saw that. Maybe I could jump down.â
âAnd break your legs? Great idea Einstein.â
Nathaniel sighed, âWhat else do you suggest I do?â
âGo to the back of the roof and climb down and get into my bedroom then walk across the hall into the room thatâs face the front and climb out of that window and jump down and hope that you donât hurt yourself to badly.â
âThatâs a good idea but I donât get the fun of climbing down.â
Beth rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, âThen try to climb down and break your legs, that just means you wonât be able to be at the fight and see whose side I take.â
Nathanielâs eyes widened, âI donât want that. Iâll go with your idea, just donât leave.â
Beth nodded, âWill do.â Nathaniel disappeared from sight and Beth sat down to wait. Beth heard a car slowing to a stop so she stood up and looked at the car.
Chelsea came out and grabbed Beth by her hands and held Bethâs hand behind her back and covered Bethâs mouth with the other hand, âScream and youâre dead. Understand?â
Beth nodded slightly as she was pulled into the car and handcuffed with her hands behind her back. Beth groaned, âWhere are you guyâs taking me? And Chelsea, I thought you were dead!â
Jill looked at Beth and giggled, âNope, we just did some damage to her memory and everything about her. Now sheâs on our side. Which you will be too.â
Bethâs eyes widened, âYou are serious? Oh my god, you guys are insane. You guys are taking this school thing way too far.â
The driver turned around a corner and said, âDonât pull that crap Beth. You know itâs true and you know whose side you belong on.â
Beth groaned, âIâm not going to be on anybodyâs side.â
Chelsea shook her head, âYes you will be Beth. Youâre stuck in it just like the rest of us.â
The driver laughed, âDonât recognize me Beth? Itâs David, you are quite weird and I donât know why he wants you but he does. Heâs told us all about you, youâre a cold blooded killer. Just like the rest of us.â
Jill smiled, âWelcome to our side. David, Chelsea and me. Iâm the leader and DavidâŚwell heâs just the female attracter in which he kills them.â
âAre you saying he seduces girls and then kills them?â Beth asked amazed.
Jill giggles, âHe did it to a gay dude once, I think his name was Seth.â
Bethâs eyes widened she tried to get free of the chains, âYou killed Seth!? Everyone was so hurt and Daniel thinks Iâm his sister! Why would you do that?â
David shrugged, âHe came onto me one day and I was like uhh okay, sure. And yea, it went down hill from that. Heâs the only dude I ever seduced and the only one I ever will.â
Jill smiled, âHe was your older brother. His real dad wanted him and he took him away.â
Beth shook her head, âThere is no way I have an older brother.â
Jill took out a picture shoved it in Bethâs face, âThere, thatâs proof. Itâs a picture of his mom and youâre mom and you two together. Heâs holding you.
Beth pulled back and looked at the picture and shook her head and squeezed her eyes shut, âI wonât believe it.â
Chelsea sat there silently and David continued to drive, âWhy not?â
Jill poked Bethâs cheek, âBecause she knows its true deep down. She remember him there and the next thing he was gone. She thought it was just a figment of her imagination.â
Beth groaned, âWhy are you guys telling me this?! Itâs just going to make me hate you guys more.â
âHate is good and you have a lot of hate inside you. Youâve been able to contain it by killing. If you join his side then you will be a lot better off,â David said.
Jill nodded, âYep and you get benefits from working for him. Chelsea knows that.â
Beth sighed and looked at Chelsea then at Jill, âSheâs not the Chelsea I knew and loved. She different, she looks like Chelsea but she is completely different.â
Jill shrugged, âSo, itâll break their team up, as youâre already doing. Youâre ruining them. Suspicion is all around them and theyâre not sure. They have a tight bond but youâve managed to destroy some trust in Nathaniel.â
David sighed, âI wish we would have gotten Nathaniel. It was just that dumb girl who made him go away from us. But who knows, maybe you can bring him back to our side.â
Beth shook her head, âIâm not going to be on your side or their side. Iâm on my own side.â
Jill giggled and shook her head and kissed Bethâs cheek, âYou poor thing. I know all about you, youâve been on his side from the start. Evil birthday, evil doings, you just are on his side.â
Beth spit in Jillâs face, âIâm not anybodyâs side, if Iâm on someoneâs side it will beâŚâ
âWill be what? Whose side? His, the man, the supposed almighty god who loves and protects the innocent. If we remember correctly, he didnât protect you or save you. He watched you as you got beat and raped and left to starve,â David said.
âHow do you know so much about me?â Beth asked.
Jill wiped the spit off and raised her hand, âMe!! I told them, I know everything about you, and I got it from the one who has been on your side from the beginning. Satan.â
Beth laughed then said, âOh joy, you all know about me.â
Jill nodded and pinched Bethâs cheek, âYep. And youâre quite the efficient killer. You try to be good but canât manage to.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âI can be good, I know I can.â
âAnd yet you havenât managed to. Youâve gotten Nathaniel to fall in love with you when you know very well how well and how suddenly you kill others. Youâve put him in danger by being around him,â Chelsea said.
âHold up Chelsea. Itâs a good thing that he loves her. If she joins us which she will then he probably will and we will have the upper hand, âDavid said as he parked the car in front of a house, where a party had already begun.
Jill looked at Bethâs hands then unlocked her hands, Beth smiled and Jill said, âDonât think you can get free. Iâm the strongest here and youâre hands are stuck behind youâre back, itâll just seem like you have them in your pockets.â Beth tried to pull her hands free but couldnât and muttered. David got out of the car and Jill pulled Beth out of the car. Jill smiled, âDonât look so grim, we know youâre going to be on our side, especially since youâre with us and not with them. Nathaniel thinks you left him and Joanne will be glad that she was right, right that youâre like the rest of us. Youâre a killer like us.â
Beth growled, âI am not like you guys at all.â
Jill pulled Beth down to a table as David went to get drinks. Chelsea sat down beside Beth. Beth tried to look at Chelseaâs ankle but couldnât for it was covered by her jeans. Jill broke Bethâs concentration, âOf course youâre like us.â
David came back with the drinks and put them down on the table. Jill looked at Bethâs hand and Beth smiled, âThank you.â Beth then rubbed her wrists and looked at the brown drink, âWhat is it?â
âSoda,â David replied, âDo you think weâre stupid enough to get drunk on a day like this?â
Beth took a sip and started to drink it, âYep I do.â
Chelsea just sat there. Jill giggled, âYouâre welcome and donât you dare think that about us ever again. We are quite smart and the best.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âGo dance Jill. Go away, all of you, go away and leave me alone.â
David gulped his down âNope, no can do.â Jill nodded as she drank and watched the crowd. David looked at Jill and said, âChill Jill. Theyâll show up soon. They know that they have to.â
Jill nodded, âI know that. Iâm just waiting to see what they do when they see their precious Beth sitting with us and chatting happily.â
Beth growled and her eyes flashed black and she tackled Jill, âI hate you Jill. Youâre too stuck and annoying and nobody holds me captive for long.â
Jillâs eyes widened and a crowd started to form while screaming, and chanting âFight! Fight! Fight! Fight!!â
Jill tried to push Beth off of her but couldnât, âYouâre on our side and I wasnât holding you captive. Why are you attacking me Febi?â
Beth stayed on Jill and bent down to her face, âThatâs my old name. You must not have realized this but Iâve formed a bond with this human girl and I am now apart of her. Address me as Beth.â
Jill leaned up and bit Bethâs nose, âYouâre still Febi, she may have been born with you but you arenât supposed to attack me.â
Beth let out a howl and started to squeeze Jillâs wrist, âThatâs what I was supposed to do, but Iâm apart of her, there is no way to draw or to take me out and you know that as well as I do. Iâm not Satanâs demon anymore, Iâm hers. I am her protector and the reason why she does what she does. But thatâs okay, she accepted me long ago and now I am apart of her soul.â
Jill yowled, âLet go of me!!â
Beth shook her head, âNo way. The audience wants a fight so we might as well give them one,â Beth then rammed her knee in between Jillâs leg.
Jill screamed as David came up behind Beth and tried to pull her off of Jill. Chelsea grabbed a hold of Davidâs waist and pulled. After many tries they pulled Beth off of Jill. Jill sat up and inhaled deeply and said, âBethany Mc Roa you will be on our side.â
Chelsea stopped and pointed, âTheyâre here.â
Jill rubbed where she was hit and looked at them and waved. Nathaniel was walking beside them looking down sadly. Joanne grinned when she saw Chelsea and ran up to Chelsea and pulled her into a tight hug saying, âYouâre okay!! Thatâs great news!! Iâm so glad youâre okay.â
Gary and Daniel fallowed behind her. Chelsea pushed Joanne away then punched her in the gut, âDonât touch me.â
Bethâs eyes flashed back to normal, âItâs not the real Chelsea. Jill did something to her!!â
Joanne bellowed over and held her stomach then looked at Beth menacingly, âShe didnât do it, you did!!â
David laughed as he stood there but said nothing. Jill stepped forward and patted Chelsea on the back, âGlad youâre on our side. Beth did a good thing.â
Bethâs eyes flashed back as she grabbed her cup and broke it then looked at Jill then at David and tackled David, âI know you two are going out,â Beth held the shard of glass close to Davidâs next, âIf you donât shut up Jill, Iâll kill him.â
Jillâs eyes widened momentarily then went back to normal, âHis power will stop you.â
Beth laughed and pressed the shard against Davidâs neck, âHis only power is to make human females around him horny and to make them want him. But Iâm not all human at the moment so it wonât work.â
David swallowed, âStop her Jill!!â
Garyâs eyes widened, âDavid is on her side?! We should have known that!!â
Joanne stood up fully and glared at Gary, âShut it Gary.â
Jill shrugged, âGo ahead, kill him, he doesnât matter.â
Beth shrugged, âYouâre lost of heart. Satan wonât bring him back, David never does anything that useful. He just kills girls, oh and Seth. He killed him to but thatâs the only guy. David is unimportant, heâs just here to keep you happy.â
Daniel and Nathanielâs eyes widened as they looked at Beth and said in unison, âDavid killed
him!?â
Jill bit her lip and shrugged, âYou wonât kill him, I donât believe you will.â
Beth nodded and shrugged, âOkay Jill,â Beth looked at David, âSorry David, the girl you love doesnât care enough, I guess love doesnât conquer all,â Beth then sliced Davidâs neck before he could say anything. Jill held her stomach and tried to remain her posture. Beth started to turn Davidâs neck as he screamed as he died. Beth twisted his head and pulled up, breaking his head off of his body and she threw it at Jill, âHereâs youâre keep sake.â
Joanne swallowed hard, âShe justâŚ.she justâŚheâs deadâŚneck ripped offâŚjust dead.â
Gary stood there frozen, âSheâs never killed a person like that.â
Nathaniel covered his eyes then smiled weakly, âAt least she killed one of the bad guys. That means sheâs on our side, right?â
Daniel swallowed hard and started to walk backwards away, âWe canât cover this up. Weâve never killed a person this way,â
Beth stayed sitting on Davidâs body as she got covered in blood and shrugged, âWell heâs dead now. Feel better now Jill?â
Jill burst into tears, âHow can you just kill him that?â
Beth shrugged, âJust an ability I guess.â
Chelsea just stood there. Gary turned around and ran away with Daniel. Nathaniel walked toward Beth slowly, âBeth? Are you okay?â
Beth looked at Nathaniel, âGet me a knife, I got an idea.â
Nathaniel did as he was told and handed her a knife. Jill stood there, holding the head, âWhat are you going to do? Kill him more?â
Beth shook her head and started to cut the neck, trying cut off the torn part of the skin, âNope, going to make it look like a knife accident, Nathaniel get me the strongest alcohol you can find.â
Jillâs eyes widened as she tears came down, âYouâre crazy.â
Nathaniel did as he was told and handed Beth the bottle, âYouâre stopping anyone from being blamed?â
Beth finished cutting the skin off and took the bottle then put the skin in Nathanielâs hands, âNow to make him seem drunk,â Beth said as she lifted his dead body and pouts the alcohol down in it, âIâm not sure if this will work but at least the cut will seem to have been deliberately done.â
Nathaniel stared at the skin in his and swallowed hard. Joanne grabbed Chelseaâs arm, âCome on Chelsea, lets leave.â
Chelsea pulled her arm free of Joanneâs grip, âDonât touch me, Iâm with Jill now, not you.â
Beth poured the whole bottle down then dropped the dead body, âJill erase their memories of this ever happening.â
Jill glared at her, âWhy should I?â
Beth shrugged and took the skin from Nathanielâs hand, âItâs that or you can deal with Satan and receive his punishment for not covering up.â
Joanne sighed, âBut Chelsea youâre my friend, youâre on godâs side not Satan and Jillâs side.â
Nathaniel smiled and wiped his hands on his jeans, âThanks for taking that away.â
Beth smiled and walked away saying, âNo problem. Iâll just go put this in someoneâs dumpster.â
Jill groaned and did as she was told then ran away with Chelsea fallowing her. Jill stood there and fallowed after Beth, âHow dare you do that!â
Nathaniel fallowed them, âWhy are you going to do that?â
Beth shrugged, âHe made me mad. I told you all that I was a killer and Jill had pissed me offâŚIâm doing it so that nobody finds it.â
Joanne glared at Beth as she fallowed her, âYouâre a murder who belongs in jail.â
âYou say that but I just did you guyâs a favor. I killed one of the people youâre against.â
Nathaniel nodded, âThatâs true, so thatâs like her doing something in favor of god, so sheâs on our side.â
Joanne glared at Nathaniel, âWeâve never killed anyone that way. Thatâs like stone age fighting.â
Beth dumped the skin into a trashcan and shrugged, âAll I did was slit his neck and rip it off, whatâs so stone age about that?â
Joanne reached up but stopped herself and said, âWe donât kill others in cold hard blood. Weâd kill each other by making them kill themselves or like a little bit of hitting and punching and theyâd die like that.â
Beth rolled her eyes as they flashed back to normal, âYouâre way takes too long.â
Joanne shrugged, âBut itâs the civil way to do it.â
âWhatâs so civil about making someone kill themselves and whatâs civil about this pathetic war?â Beth asked.
âItâs better than ripping someoneâs head off. And its our war. Whoever wins this war effects us.â
Beth rolled her eyes, âIâm going home, well to the Tervalâs house and Iâm going to have a shower.â
Joanne grabbed Bethâs shoulder, âDonât ignore me. You receive pain when you do.â
Nathaniel lifted Joanneâs hand off of Bethâs shoulder, âJoanne go home. Drop it. The fight happened and we donât know anything yet. You just have youâre suspicions. Go home and we can deal with this tomorrow.â
Joanne glared at Nathaniel but didnât push any further. Beth smiled, âThanks Nathaniel. See ya tomorrow.â
